Wondering if anyone has installed a dvd with two monitors in their disco. I have a 95 and my thoughts weremounting the dvd player on the roof console where the sunroof electrics are ( no roofs on mine) and mounting the screens somewhere in the roof near the back seats. Pics would be great if anyone has done an install like this. Thanks Guys

Usually the DVD player goes under the seat and the monitors go in the headrests. Unless you made some custom pod for the ceiling, I think mounting the DVD player itself to the roof would not look good. You can always get a portable DVD player in a bag as a very affordable alternative.

I put my DVD player in the back of the center console just on top of the ash tray. I have one screen in the back that is attached to the ceiling, and then a fold away monitor in the front stereo location. If you would like I can post a pic for you. The way I did it, the DVD player actually slides into the bottom of the center cubby storage area, so I just made a fake floor to cover it up. Now the cubby box space is 1/2 what it used to be.

Stu It would be great if you could post a couple pics. Just brainstorming about how to do it, it also helps to see pics sometimes to. Thanks Stu :D

Here is a pic that shows that DVD (bottom) and fold out LCD, if you want a picture of my center monitor, let me know, I will have to take a seperate one of that. I wasn't able to fit everything in one photo.

Good point. I guess that would be a little more difficult, but I'm sure it could be done. Why not just get one of the pre-assembled headliner-mounted pods? That's got to be the easiest solution.

Stuart,

Yeh, I'd like a picture of your centre screen. That looks like just the sort of install I'm after doing but without the front screen. Can't afford to drive and watch a DVD here in Saudi.....Too damned scary!

Also what type of system was it that you fitted and how does it tie in with radio etc?

Cheers

Well I gutted the stock system and put in an entire Alpine setup, the in dash is an alpine radio with the fold out screen (CVA-1004), then I put in the Alpine DVD player in the console, and the Alpine overhead monitor in the ceiling. I don't remember what model numbers they were. I also put in a Alpine 6-disc mp3 changer under the seat which matches the factory brackets perfectly, and have the Alpine NAV system which runs on the fold out screen. When I put together the system I originally wanted a navigation system but didn't want a seperate screen on the dash anywhere, and liked the fact that it can stay tucked away most of the time. I was also interested in being able to seperate the video, so that I could look at the NAV system up front, while the monitor in back could watch movies, or the TV. The overhead monitor came with a trim ring that I used, and painted with some automotive interior paint that I found at some auto parts store, it doesn't match exactly but it is close enough that no one notices, especially since it is never in direct sunlight. Also the trim ring was a little to big, and I originally thought I might come up with something custom, but at this point I dont plan on changing it. Another thing that is nice with this unit is that when is it down in the veiwing position, it is still above the view in my rear view mirrror. Actually most people don't notice that it is there, which was something else I was wanting, for security purposes. I did install everything myself, but I did it just like a discovery I had seen at the local dealership. I also added a few other things while I was at it. Anyway here is the pic of the overhead console.
