Has anyone ever tried e85 fuel in their Disco? The LR is not listed as a "Flexible Fule Vehicle". I wondering if anyone has used this fuel in their LR or other car.

Thanks
Andrew

from the web site:
E85 is the term for motor fuel blends of 85 percent ethanol and just 15 percent gasoline. E85 is an alternative fuel as defined by the U.S. Department of Energy. Besides its superior performance characteristics, ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline; it is a completely renewable, domestic, environmentally friendly fuel that enhances the nation's economy and energy independence.

I was just going to post this same thread. I would like to know myself, not that there is any around Texas but in my travels I may come across it.

we have ethanol blended fuels up here in Canada. But I believe they are just 10%. I have used it several times with out troubles. then again I have been using regular grade fuel for almost 4 years without a hitch.

do a search for ethanol on this site. to get any performance out of it with out burning valves u have to change the air fuel mixture. i think it's volvo(or someone) i read about that has designed a engine to run it and reagular fuel without the bad side effects it causes. the use a turbo that almost doubles the boost when e85 is used. the turboboost increases and pumps more air in to run the e85 leaner than gas. not sure how ours would react since the maf measures air flow, or if u would even be able to reprogram the fuel system to run leaner, but then u couldn't run regular gas. other wise u will run way to rich and decrease gas mileage.

Ive used E10 before and try to seek it out. Most stations around NYC have it. Never seen e85 though. If its readily available by you you should look into chipping your rig to run it. Try a PC chip w/ custom program. Any good dyno tuner shoudl be able to create a custom map for you for a couple hundred.

not sure about the d1's but my rr and disco manuals say not to use any fuel with alcohol.
from yhe rave cd

Gasoline/oxygenated fuel blends
To avoid invalidating the vehicle warranty, use
ONLY fuels blended within the following limits:
?Up to 15% of Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether
(MTBE) and unleaded fuel mix.
?Up to 15% of Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether
(ETBE) and unleaded fuel mix.
?Up to 10% of Ethanol (Ethyl or grain
alcohol) and unleaded fuel mix.

Methanol/unleaded fuel blends
In some areas, it is possible to buy unleaded
fuel that is blended with up to 5% Methanol
(Methyl or wood alcohol) and cosolvents and
corrosion preventatives. Using these blends
can cause driveability problems and damage to
the fuel system components. Their use may
also invalidate the vehicle warranty.
WHEREVER POSSIBLE, AVOID USING FUEL
CONTAINING METHANOL!
