What are your opinions for OE or better replacement pads for the DII's 99' and newer? I don't see paying the extra price for a LR Genuine box with pads that are not necessarily better than a pair of $50 or so pair of pads. Also, I'm sitting here with a set of Proline rotors (non-slotted). Your opinions...:patriot:

Save $50 = Squeak

Pay the additional $50 for LR Genuine = No Squeak!

Yes it's worth the extra money!

Is it strictly pay more for less squeak? I'm curious about the Lockheed/Delphi pads, and who else sell pads that are the same as OE except boxed differently so their cheaper...

Check the other current thread about the EBC Greenstuff 6000/7000. I have been personally running those with the DBA slotted front rotor for about 3+ years.

Great initial and hot bite, great with heavy load or trailer, no squealing ever, cheaper than OEM & great wear life.

Keep the condensation out of the fluid (change often) and you will not have squish and you will have a great stopping Rover.

The greenstuffs are an ancient pad design and are pretty much shunned in performance car circles for leaving deposits on rotors, being tough on rotors, and just not working as well as some more modern pads. That said, I have greenstuffs on the D1 right now and they work well enough, but I will be replacing them with my new favorite pads when they are worn out: Akebono Ceramics. I have Akebono ceramics on two of my BMW's right now (M3 and 325) and love them. I use a lot of pads on the M3 and have tried them all...these are the closest thing I have found to a 'perfect' pad: good cold bite, no dust, no noise, and excellent performance once hot. They are also pretty gentle on rotors...highly recommended.
