my d1 has been overhaeting(big surprise) ever since my trip to florida(covered my rover with mud from 5 different states!) im thinking about ditching the clutch fan and going electric. anyone got any tips? also trying to find new aluminum radiator....its a land rover so i know the stock one wont last long. maybr theres some rad/fan combos out there for d1s? or has anyone rigged one from another model? custom work aint a problem for me....

Are you certain that this is a fan clutch issue? If there is something borked in your cooling system, an electric fan will not help anything, and may make things worse.

I rigged a Subaru SVX electric fan by attaching it to my existing fan shroud, I power it via a generic starter solenoid, to avoid having high voltage wires running everywhere

It works well, I've heard that the fan from a 92 Taurus will work wonderfully as well

Heavy duty fan clutch from Advance Auto, $60 and either clean the mud out of your radiator or have it recored. An electric fan isn't going to help with a clogged radiator.

I run an electric fan on mine and it works great. It won't fix any problem that isn't fan related. If it is below 80 outside, I don't really need to use the fan at all unless I am stuck in bad traffic, which doesn't happen much here. If you are moving foward ( at least 20mph. ) and having an overheating problem, I would look around for other causes. Good luck.
