Electric Impact Wrenches

I'm looking for some new tools. I thought about buying an electric impact wrench (corded or cordless) for removing stubborn nuts/bolts.

Any suggestions? The positive comments I've read on other web sites all seem to be from people using them to remove/attach lug nuts... and almost all the negative comments I've read are from people who want to remove stuck fasteners (my application).

So, are the electric ones all underpowered? Anyone used one?

I use a corded Blue Point made by Snap On and I'm very pleased. It works on stuck bolts much more often than not but it isn't going to match an air tool. What's nice is if you have a really powerful inverter and a good battery you can carry it with you for roadside emergencies.

I got it new on Ebay for about half what it would have cost off the Snap On truck.

I have a 24V cordless Makita 1/2" impact gun. Its good for lugs and such, but it just doesn't have the power for freeing stuck nuts/bolts. Battery life is incredible, and the usefulness of a cordless tool is great. If you need the power, you have to go air.

Don't ever use an electric rechargeable to final torque anything, especially lug nuts. I've had to fire two technicians that used those things (Snap-On versions) even though they were instructed not to. One guy had wheels coming loose regularly, the other used it on a clutch job. When the exhaust fell off three days later I had to go back and do the entire job - not a single bolt over 30nm. Everything was loose. If you go back and give a tug to check torque, they should be fine.
