ELM 327 interface

Installed the gems ECU utility for Land Rover, turn key to position 2, paired the app with dongle, however when you select connect to ECU app does not connect? Anyone with ideas on what to do?

Are you using Android or Apple? I believe Apple uses wifi and Android uses Bluetooth.

What I understand is robertf made this app several years ago for android only.

Looks like I have a fake dongle, tried it on another truck with Torque Pro and got the same no connect with ECU. In trying to isolate the problem I hooked a handheld scanner and it recognized the 9141 Land Rover comm line. I’ll be buying a more enhanced dongle!

As I understand it, the GEMS ECU app uses the ELM327 protocol, which I think isn't supported on all dongles. I bought this one (LINK) per Robertf's reccomendation, and it worked great on my '96 D1.

Thats exactly what I have, I must have a dud!

Finally got a good Elm327 to connect to the ECU. The link provided by HLD on 9/29 was the dongle I used. Plugged in, turn key to position 2, connected to dongle, paired, connected to ECU all in 15 seconds!
