Empty Promises by President Obama

I don't think the President of The United States should allow himself to be backed into a corner and pressured into anything. He was elected to be a leader. Leaders don't cave to pressure. He is in way over his head and is in no way a LEADER. Shit. If he actually had some balls I would at least respect him. He will never gain respect by pandering and allowing himself be 'forced' into doing something he supposedly doesn't believe in.

The reason Obama will lose this year is because he didn't do the things he said he would do 3 years ago. Before you say that he couldn't because of Republicans, remember that for the first 2 years he had both the House and the Senate.

Deflect and Attack is the go-to Republican tactic. I'm not going to waste my time going through the forums to find posts proving the obvious. Tell you what. Next time you guys do it, I'll just remind you of this.

And without a supermajority, nobody can get much done against a united opposition - Republicans filibustered the hell out of everything until the bills were modified to meet their demands. What he's been able to accomplish in spite of CONSTANT united opposition is really quite remarkable.

...EVERY President has been backed into a corner over one thing or another and been forced to compromise at some point.

That doesn't make sense Knewsom. What you are basically saying is that either the Democrats are just weak, or that the minority (republicans) were still calling the shots. If you could call the shots from a minority, it wouldn't matter who was in power. Is that what you're saying?
My point is that if you a leader, you have the balls to say NO because of what you believe. As far as I am concerned there very few leaders left in politics. Everyone (both sides) are pandering and doing what they think will get them elected, rather than standing up for what they believe in.
One of the reasons I voted for Ron Paul twice is because he has said the same thing for years. It is just now gaining popularity, but it is his same old message, and I admire that crazy old fucker for sticking with it.

I'm not talking everyone else, I'm talking about me. You said you're using my tactics. Where have I just deflected and attacked instead of answering (or at least attempting to answer) with straight-up logic and fact?

And I admire the crazy old fucker for sticking with it too - that doesn't mean he's right about everything. He's right about some things, but wrong about enough that I'd be very worried if he were calling the shots.

The minority can't call the shots, but they can hold government operations and any sort of agenda hostage. If they are incredibly stubborn and unwilling to compromise, it can make (and has made) everything incredibly difficult.

You all know I don't agree with everything the President has done - but I do feel as though he's had a particularly tough time as President, and that in spite of it, he's done a decent job. He'll be getting my vote again.

I didn't mean you specifically, so much as Republicans in general. I apologize for the miscommunication.

I actually prefer a gridlocked congress. The more gridlock, the less damage they can do. What amazes me is that during the time the Dems have been in charge, they have yet to approve a budget. The one Obama presented and was voted on wasn't just voted down, it was voted down by 99%. And this was before the Republicans took over the house.
