Is this frequent? I throw it in the same category as "check the grounds"

Plug an obd2 reader in there, does the temp match what is expected? If so, move on.

Probably the most common thing I have seen causing poor running or stalling on 14CUX trucks. Happened to me in Colorado and Utah on my honeymoon. It was intermittent for me, but eventually got to a point where it stalled and I couldn’t get it restarted. Finally hooked up the scan tool and found the coolant temp sensor reading -40F. Unplugged it and drove another 3k miles all over the western US.

Thats odd as its the same sensor as a GEMS. Maybe the voltage divider on the 14cux sampling circuit dumps more current through it.
