engine mount issue

So...several years ago I did away with the stock engine mounts (after continuously destroying them) and installed solid mounts. Well, after years of beating the rover I have found a weakness in them. The solid aluminum part that attached to the chassis has literally cut through the steel. I have attached a photo, but it is hard to actually see the issue. The photo is taken from below the engine so it looks upside down. I am thinking that I am just going to weld a steel plate on top the the chassis "ear" to essentially make a new mounting place. Is this what the dweb gallery would do? Any other ideas are welcome! Let me know.

i did try that...and i also took the engine out and blew on it really hard and then put it back in...it din't work. I think my next step may be to put another engine on top of it to see if it will help.
