Engine stopping for 1 to 2 seconds

It's been a while since I've had time go log on. I have a 95, 3.9 and about 3 to 4 mos. ago while driving the engine completely quit just for a split second. This happened maybe 3 or 4 times untill about a month ago. Since then it has happened most every time I drive it. Even while it is sitting at idle. The duration has also increased to a second or two. Since it is only a matter of time before it stops for good, does anyone have any idea what it might be. It does not sputter, just completely stops like you turned the ignition off. I put a new coil on it when it first happened but that did not change things.

Thanks

Tim

I'll have to apoligize. I forgot one important fact. I had a code 17 showing and have just looked it up. It is TPS. I guess this might be the problem?

depends

the 95 had a production split

the early ones are a round plug and is a rover only item as far as I have seen

the later have a square plug and people say that most auto parts stores have a part number for that one.
