Exhaust issues, Won't pass WA emissions

Hi everybody,

I have a 99 Disco II. Ive got all sorts of issues mainly with the Y pipe that seem to be a contributing factor to me not passing emissions. I keep getting a bank 2 sensor 2 low imput code that is triggering the CEL. I have a broken stud on the drivers side causing a very big exhaust leak, and several decent sized pinhole leaks. Along with these issues, I noticed two 02 sensors were VERY loose, like looser than finger tight loose. Any idea if these could cause a low imput, or would it be more of an issue with the 02 harnesses? Thanks for any help!!!

Worst case scenario you can buy this entire D2 for $700 and have a trove of replacement parts for years to come. Considering a new y-pipe will cost you ~$500 (although it will be new), this might be an alternative to consider. Or pull the y-pipe from it along with whatever other parts you want to keep on hand, then scrap the rest. It's pretty close to you, too.

What's the specific code? P0157? Low voltage is more likely a wiring or O2 sensor issue than an exhaust issue.

You should probably fix that large exhaust leak regardless, but after that, I'd start by swapping O2 sensors between the banks and see if the DTC follows. If you have the capability for real-time signal monitoring(Torque app, capable OBD2 device, etc), you won't have to wait for a code to pop up.

I'm at work right now, I can double check which code it was when I get off here in a couple hours. I'll give it a go when I get home and post the results, I believe it was low input though...

As for the parts Rover....I'm a firm believer that every Rover needs a good parts Rover! Mine is built from 7-8 different Rovers at this point, D1s and D2s!

I'll be heading to Washington in a week, I should stop by one of those pathetic Emission Stations to get mine checked just for fun.

When I rebuilt mine, I removed the Air Injection and plunged the holes in the heads... Removed the CAT's and had riser bungs installed for the O2 Sensors... Ran hoses for the valve cover vents to a vent can and plugged that hole in the intake (shoulda seen all the sludge and shit when i first took it apart).

Runs better and i have not killed off and desert turtles or newts.

I bet it passes emissions.

LOL Bendts ! Those emissions stations are ridiculous, I'd love to know if your rig passes though!

As for my rig I have 5 current codes, and my input for possible causes. Keep me posted if anyone has additional ideas!

P1530-rough road signal implausible / drive cycle signal implausible--Three Amigos?

P0160-Bank 2 sensor 2 no activity--This one was VERY loose

P0440-evaporative emission system--Gas cap?

P0134-Bank 1 sensor 1 no activity--immediately downstream of large exhaust leak due to broken exhaust stud.

P0154-Bank 2 sensor 1 no activity---This one was VERY LOOSE.
