Exploded starter

The little cog on the starter shattered. I'm currently pulling out some rubbery bits coated in oil and grease and only found 1/2 the cog.
Am I fucked?
How hard will it be to clean everything out?

Clean it out best you can and leave the bottom inspection cover off and roll with it for a little while then put it back on.


You could blow compressed air down the bell housing from where the rubber plugs are if you wanted too.

is this the bottom inspection cover?
and i'm assuming that the rubbery bits i pulled out came from the now missing plug.
