Hey guys and gals,
I've recently installed a Rovertym Slimline full brush bar! Oh yeah! Anyway, I've got a roller fairlead with my Warn XD9000 but was curious if anyone of ya'll have a fairlead for synthetics that do not have the rollers. Any suggestions?

Most folks, myself included, run a hawse fairlead with synthetic line. You can run a roller too. There is an argument as to whether you will pinch a synthetic line with a roller fairlead. I do not know anyone personally that has.....so it is up to you brother. There are many hawse fairleeds out there just search but to get you started:

edit: I run the rockware hawse on RTE slimline. It is double the thickness of most of the hawse's

Hawse fairleads are lighter, and don't stick out as far as roller fairleads. Also, I'm not sure if this happens with RTE bumpers but with my SG bumper a roller fairlead actually hangs down past the bottom of the bumper (the front vertical part, not the slanted part at the very bottom) and looks bad I think, where as a hawse fairlead doesn't since its smaller. Which gives the bumper a lot cleaner look...

Like flyfisher said, people say you can pinch the synthetic in the corners of the rollers, but I've never actually heard of anyone doing it. Rovertracks makes a very nice / clean looking hawse fairlead...

I made a set of black delrin rollers for Tami's truck. I even machined in some bushings. I've seen it before in pictures, but never in person. I think winchline.com sells a kit......

Yep - see here. It came up in this thread also. Have you used the plastic ones before Dan? What do/did you think of them?

Hey guys thanks for the info. I had in mind putting some webbing over my line and installing a Hawse fairlead, although two bolts is cheaper than a $70 fairlead. As a temporary fix I'll install the original fairlead and when I feel like dishin' out an extra $70 I'll get a Hawse.

Thanks guys!

Problem is that synthetic winch line strecthes a bit and gets thinner, when it does it will catch in the corner of a roller fairlead if winching at a sharp angle. When it catches it WILL break. Trust me on this one! I dropped the truck about about 10 ft almost vertical on it's ass once when that happened.

Get a hawse fairlead - it'll be cheaper in the long run.

Hey Rob

You're right about that - I do need another truck! Just too many other expenditures ahead of it right now. unfortunately. I still slum around with the Rover folks though and take all the crap for buying the wife an FJ - LOL

I think I'd be more tempted if I lived where you do - pay-to-play parks around here just don't do it for me.
