I have been having an issue with the alarm activating all on its own on a 96 D1. I disconnected the micro switch on the driver door handle / lock assembly and have been without false alarms since, about 2 weeks. This leads me to believe it was the source of the problem, either a bad micro switch or worn down cam that activates it.

I know a new assembly will solve the problem but I have a few questions.

Has anyone been able to source just the micro switch and or cam on the lock assembly? The new assembly is about $300.

If I buy the whole assembly, is it difficult to remove the lock cylinder and replace it with my old one so I can have matching keys?

I’ve attached a photo to help reduce confusion by me not using the correct terms.
