Flame Away!

SOCIAL SECURITY:

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the
Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into
the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to
put into the Program would be deductible from their
income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would only be
used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program,
and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.

Since many of u s have paid into FICA for years and
are now receiving a Social Security check every
month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed
on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal
government to "put away," you may be interested in
the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from
the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the
Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
"tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving
annuity payments to immigrants?

MY FAVORITE :

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic
Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at
age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security
payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments
to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and
violation of the original contract (FICA), the
Democrats turn around and tell you that the
Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens
believe it!

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during
this 2004 election year!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe good changes
will evolve.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have
come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first

Just goes to show you how ignorant the Republicans are.

"It was on the internet it's gotta be true!"

These are the same narrow minded people that watch Fox News and listen to Rush.

Maybe someone will chime in with the quotes by Alexander Tyler and Joseph Olson.

What is hard for me to grasp is that people actually believe this stuff. Personally I tend NOT to believe internet hype, I need some proof. Maybe these are the same folks that believe the check cashing, free money scams from Nigeria.

Fuck you, asshole. Don't lump us all together. I happen to know some intelligent democrats and would therefore never flush them all at once. So go fuck yourself. In the ass.

Sadly, or maybe happily, being gullible to internet legends isn't limited to one party or the other. I think it's more limited to people who're looking for the worst in others. At least the legends that denigrate others.

That's all you've got? Coming from an ignorant fuck like you I guess I couldn't expect more.

Though expectations were pretty low coming from a guy with an avatar crawling out of a hole flipping the world off. It's almost as though you are cowering away afraid from all the right wing propaganda being shoved down your throat. Or maybe your just flipping us all off because there you are getting it in the ass in some cave...

I love telling anonymous people on the web that they just bought into an urban legend.

http://www.ssa.gov/history/InternetMyths2.html

Do some research before you buy into horse shit.

Which is why the internet is a better place for info than the mainstream media. How long did this last? Not even 3 hours. Look what happened to seeBS. They couldn't even lie for 12 hours before FreeRepublic took them to task. Poor liberals have lost control of the flow of information. Hell, it's not even safe on today's college campus! :)

Frankly, the whole idea of social security is - SOCIAListic. It is no mistake that they actually called it "Social" - it has nothing to do with being friendly. It is, no mistake, the first, and will probably be the last step this country takes in going from a Democratic Republic, to a Democracy, to Democratic Socialism, to full Socialism. The idea behind Social Security is a pure thesis for Socialism.

There is no debate here, it is what it is. You may like it, you may despise it, but that does not change the fact about what it is. If you like it, you should probably just accept the fact that you are embracing socialism.

The reason Bush is trying to start turning it around by privatizing it is because of his ideology about what is a free capitolist society, and what is a socialist society. In one, people are free to make stupid mistakes on their own, in the other, the government makes your decisions for you.

Also, whoever FIRST came up with that list of Q and A probably got it wrong on purpose. But it is interesting that only 5 of the Answers were wrong, and that they were not so much wrong as missunderstandings.

Bullshit. It was done very much on purpose. The originators make it believable by the appearance of misunderstandings-- that's the whole point.

Exactly - that is the reason for the whole urban legend / internet myth crap. Start with half-truth and warp it to serve your purpose. Whenever you read something on the internet you have to fact check it. No harm done by bcroz...innocent mistake that happens to everyone....the crap was flogged out pretty damn quick.

P.S. Social Security sucks. Talk about being Skull fucked by government Agents...

Hurts even worse when your self employed. Add insult to injury when you HAVE to write a check every quarter instead of just seeing it deducted as a line item on a paycheck. OUCH!

Which is how all taxes should be paid. Make people actually write a check and watch the shit hit the fan.

Oh yes....owned my own company in '97-98 and you truly see it as money out of your own pocket (money you'll likely never see again, contrary to those cute little SS statements you receive in the mail.)
