I love Chipotle. go see Food Inc and you will like it even more.

you know Food TV does shows about all kinds of resturants across the county. You might try searching on their web site.

I'm a sucker for PF Changs. Not easy to find for a chain, but I'm glad that St. Louis has one.

You may be stuck at a chain the first few times you visit a location but start asking about the local venues. By the next few visits you should be able to find a much better restaurant. At least a little variety vs. the bland chain ones.

Why is Pizza Hut still in business? Amazing.

PF Changs? Holy smokes!

That shit is as Chinese as going to a McDonalds. If you want decent Chinese, I'll give you a secret that I learned over the years. Get a phone book and look for the absolute worst sounding name that you can imagine. Look for something that just doesn't make sense. Find a place with a number in the name like "Triple Happiness Seafood Restaurant". The Chinese are big on lucky numbers. Those are going to be the good joints. If it has a name like House of Hunan, run away.

Is it that fucking hard to find decent food? I assume when you people are out on business trips that you actually meet with people that live in the area that you are visiting. Is it that hard to ask a local where some good grub is. I don't think I've ever met a person that doesn't like talking about restaurants.

Speaking of fast food, I stopped at a place called Popeye's on my way home from MAR. It was awesome.

Another Chain I frequent when traveling is Cheesecake Factory. Never disappointed there, and on the companies dime is even better.

Good place to start.. I've been to enough chain restaurants and still go to a couple like Dog Fish Head, Sweet Water, Ruth's Chris, places like that.. However, I'm all about finding the mom & pop places to go eat at. I'll ask people where they like to eat when I'm out of town. I've found some great little nasty hole in the wall joints with great food. I've also been to a couple of places that I thought I was going to die the next day from eating their food. More so good places then bad though..

Cheesecake factory?

The recent win by Scott Brown in MA restored my faith in the wisdom of the American people. This thread has promptly removed it.

I love most of the local places I have been to since getting to new Orleans but a chain is nice every once in awhile (especially since it can be cheaper than local food)

So basically, you've thrown in the towel and just accepted eating dogshit? I've traveled on business all over the midwest, pacific northwest, british columbia, and alberta and have always been able to find better food at mom & pop shops than any of the crap restaurants you listed.

Do you buy your groceries at Walmart as well?

Dont know exactly what you referring to as to "throwing in the towel" or eating dogshit. Neither one was accomplished by moi. Waited for a reasonable amount of time in one place, when it became obvious the place sucked (a local place), we left. Plain and simple.

And believe me, I have travelled for business all over U.S. and overseas as well. Eating out gets old after a while, no matter where you go. And lets be honest, eating at Ruth Chris or Morton's or the like everyday is a bit on the pricy side. The only reason I asked for chain restaurants is because they are everywhere for the most part, v.s. local mom and pop shops who require a specific location. I love Chipotle, but didnt see one in Jacksonville, NC. And for those familiar with the area, well you know the deal. There are a few good local places, the question was regarding chains. I guess maybe some of us are just too good to be eating at Olive Garden and the likes.....

Another clarification, I dont mean where to go once, I know Ruth Chris and the likes are great, been to those before. The post is in mind of you being on the road for a couple weeks at a time and around military bases...

Anyway, looks like for some this is turning into another Dweb thread of bashing certain things and appearing better than others. Wheeling and dealing trying to be as cheap as it comes to parts/vehicles, but then apparently quite a few eat breakfast/lunch/dinner at Ruth Chris.

Have you been to the Magnolia Grill yet? Go late at night and see the freaky crowd, and get a Kitchen Sink Omlet.....:victory:

I'll be blunt. Olive Garden is dogshit. Throwing in the towel simply means that you have given up and have accepted eating at horrible chain restaurants.

Growing up I only ate the Italian food that my mom made. In college I took my girlfriend (now wife) to the Olive Garden. That food borders on being inedible. I was absolutely shocked after that dinner to come outside and see the mass hordes waiting over an hour for that garbage. I haven't set foot back in that dump and will never do so again.

Who said anything about eating expensively? You pick a big city and I bet that I can find great food that costs half as much as Morton's.
