Can’t make up my mind. Use these, or stick with the regular ol’ composite. Leaning towards using them on my son's 99 that's also needing HG's.

Let me add, that until recently, I had never heard of "MLS gaskets". My search for info on MLS led me to these Felpro's. I ordered a set, and yes, they're essentially composite on thin metal such as the Lucky8 supplied, or Elrings. The noticeable difference is the you'll see the Felpro has a has beading all the way around the water jacket, but lacks the additional metal materiel around the bolt holes. The Felpro does seem a little thinner.

This is going to turn into a BritPart v. Elring v. Felpro thread.

That gasket appears to be incorrectly advertised as MLS, which wouldn’t give me much confidence in it. Being composite, it should be standard thickness.

These are Felpro MLS gaskets..

Basically, if you look at it and it’s not composed of multiple layers of steel, it’s bullshitting you.

Well Hell, my googlefu sucks! appreciate ya'll educating this amateur, shade tree Rover mechanic.

Reading in another thread, it sounded like 'MLS was some new, miracle gasket.

I had an Elring fail at 55k ish. Ive got the BritPart gaskets handy, they're about to go in so I can get back on the road by the end of this weekend.

Not a miracle, just stronger.

Does the package say MLS?

The website mentions MLS, even though it definitely doesn't look like one.

The first time I saw one I couldn't believe a few pieces of stamped sheet metal slapped together with a (basically) Teflon coating was the latest and greatest in head gasket tech.

The package does not. Scam like ain’t it ?!?!?
They’re trying to take advantage of us Rover V8 folks trying to keep these old trucks running!

As a side note, anybody here ever used these Felpro's??

Shoot, i just did that. Bought 2.5 acres and plans already have a off road test track and motorcycle jumps... for my son. Large fire ring and seating area planned at the front of the shop. Going to build a couple 4600 class Discoverys along with all the other crazy builds we do. Looked at the wife and told her we need a tractor and a bobcat now that we have the land.
