Side of the road....
After rolling my Disco six times a couple of years ago, I've finally got my ass back in a Rover. It's a 2011 LR4 Metropolis Edition.

Please tell us about this. What happened? Outcome?[/QUOTE

I was on my way to work, and met a tow-truck that was over the line and in my lane. I swerved to miss him, hit some gravel or something on the shoulder. The truck started to rotate around, and I broadsided a ditch at about 50 MPH which sent the truck into a series of rolls. My rack took the brunt of the first roll, but came off the truck after the first roll. The truck was totaled; the roof over the driver's side was completely smashed down. The truck came to rest on the driver's side door. Fortunately, I was able to climb out the front because the windshield was gone. I did walk away without a scratch on me. I had very minor whiplash, but that was about it.

I am very curious about the Disco safety/strength in different crashes, do you mind posting any photos of the crushed roof? or email.

I have a couple discos and have been concerned sometimes about my mom in them. At least she drives slow as hell but I don't know about her reaction ability these days.

Glad you were ok.

If I had a disco, I would get a rack just for safety reasons. I know a guy who had a huge tree fall on his disco and the rack saved him from the tree going all the way through the roof. They are stout and really reinforce the roof.

Glad to hear you walked away.

There have been several members post their results from accidents. Do a search in the disco and general forums. From what I have seen on this BBS, the Discos (I & IIs) both do very well. My ex wife (we were still married at the time) had a wreck between Branson Mo and Harrison AR on Hwy 65. She was at highway speeds and apparently fell asleep, crossing a deep median, then on coming lanes, and eventually climbed a steep hill. I suspect she panicked and stomped on the accelerator vs the brake. Anyway, she was so high up a steep hill that the paramedics and police had trouble finding her.

She hit either the ditch or hill so hard she broke her lower back. I thought the DII would be totaled. Despite the axles being shifted several inches away from center (in opposite directions), front wheels pointing away from each other, and the body being creased on top, I drove it home and it was later fixed. fixed such that I couldnt ever tell it was wrecked. It was perfect.

Not a roll over accident, thank goodness, but they are very stout vehicles.
