First fish of the year.

I caught this one in the national forest on Jan. 1st. Glad I didn't get drunk the night before. First decent fish on the new 6.5' 3 weight.
I doubt I can top this for a native trout this year.

Native don't ever get kept. Stocked fish are a different story, if I ate fish or fished for stocked trout, I might consider taking them home.

Nope, it laid there pretty quite. Pulling them out when the water temps are in the 30's is a bit different then pulling them out when they are in the 60's. When I released him he swam easily back to where he came from.
