We scrubbed for hours yesterday. Soap, water, Soap, warm water, scrub, WD-40, more scrubing.

I used Goo-Gone and it worked great. EE has a product by Blaster which is a Decal and Sticker Remover.
It's citrus based like the Goo-Gone. So anything that's Citrus Based will work, just wash off any of the remaining residue with soap. Clearcoat was fine. I have a Oslo Blue DII

The 3M stuff will not harm the paint. It will, however, remove all wax. I assume the Goo Gone will do the same. So give the area a coat of wax when you are done.

Another tip - use lots of rags. Once you wipe the goo with solvent some of it will clog the spot you used on the rag. So switch to a clean spot frequently and change rags when you run out of clean spots. Something with a bit of texture/nap to it, like an old cotton washcloth or bath towel, works best as it grabs the goo without scratching the paint.

Post up pictures when you get it done and go get your nails done. :)

You can do the Vanna White thing and show off the fenders!! :)

Seriously though, I do think it looks good without them. I'm kinda glad my D1 never had them, but I do like the black door strip on the doors. I don't think the D2s have those...?

Do the flares peel off fairly easy? I'm assuming they don't crack or break as you are taking them off.

Jeff,

Mine were pretty easy. Just use care and a little finesse and you should be o.k.

I figure if a klutz like me can do it, most folks can.

Note, the flares are cheap, if your's are as faded and shitty looking as mine you might as well try, and if you don't like it, then buy new good looking ones and put them on, why not right?? But then again that's what I said about the whole "it can't be that deep can it?" as well as the "well it's broken as hell now, you might as well just trim off that broken bit of the bumper"
