Thus: 'Range Rover'

The news and other 'outsiders' always mess up on the names.

Hey man, that's a cool... Toyota Rover; Jeep; Range Rover Discovery; ...uh... who makes the Discovery? Who makes Land Rovers?

I actually had one guy come up and talk to me thinking he was going to get a cameo appearance on some reality show on the 'Discovery' channel -- I kid not -- he was quite disappointed when I realized what he was getting at and set him straight on the brand and model, etc...

When I went to get my 3rd gas cap (in 5 years), I followed along with exactly what the computer wanted.
"Year?"
1990
"make?"
land rover
"who makes that?"
:banghead: "it's number 99 on your list"
"oh..."
I didn't even confuse her with the whole LR/RR thing. There's only one model and one engine for a 1990 Land Rover in the computer.
and it was still the wrong part (which I told her before we started). Match the part that's in my hand. That's all I want.

Just like a guy that works in Autozone asking me if LR was made in Austrailia. Yeah sure, the Kangaroo II edition. Very rare and sought after.

Recently at the Concours de Elegance out in Forest Grove, the club was invited just for fun. Well they handed out little participation trophies and on them was a Samurai instead of a rover.

i like how in the second pic you can see how dark everything under the engine bay is from oil leaks. this is exactly what mine would look like upside down ;)

I bet they didn't hand out trophies of Pintos for the nice cars, now did they. Shame, shame, shame.

You are close. You must be thinking of the Concours de Lemons.

I think pre-1995, Land Rover North America was Range Rover North America. It may have been pre-1994. Something along those lines...

That's the explanation for that.

I think it was 1990. My RRC's title say "land rover" for make and "Range Rover" for model. The '87s title said "Range Rover" and had no model listed.
