Whats the trick to taking the dam door panel off. I noticed 6 screws at subwoofer and 1 screw at the latch. Tried to pry one side off and one of the red holder things broke. any tips?

If I remember right, there are 6 screws holding the grille on, then 4 more holding the cover on, then 6 or 8 more holding the whole assembly to the door.

no I did not cause the screws are stripped. Do i need to?

I take it once I get the sub out, make the panel coming off much easier?

Be ready to make to more (2) holes in the tire carrier so you can rotate and fit all the bolts.

The trick to getting the plastic rivets off is to go to your local Auto-parts store and buy a interior panel removal tool. $3 or so.

Yeah. But get a REALLY good one. Some of those buggers are in there tight.

I use a silver fork that I got in a china set I picked up at a yard sale. I tried a Snap-On trim removal tool and bent it. The fork isn't too much stronger, but if you hold it just right, it won't bend.

By all means go get the tool, but keep the receipt in case it just isn't strong enough. Get a solid cast model if you can find one. The sheet steel models don't have the grunt to pull them out, no matter who made it.

Strangely enough, the cast models seem to be cheaper, and available at most parts stores. The Ampro stuff Advance carries is damn good for the money, and they have just about everything. You would think it is junk, being a store brand, but it isn't.

As well, unless they changed the thing on your 03, you will have to either cut it or adjust the rear wiper arm for fit. Personally, I wish I had just bought a relocation adapter like the one available at Atlantic British. Much more simple and clean, and you don't have to deal with a crooked wiper or cut carrier.

Cheers,

x3 on panel remover from the zone. If i remember right, take subwoffer out, unplug. on my 2000 d2 rear wiper is on a spline shaft. Simply "pry' off wiper, move it clockwise 10, 20, 30 degress..whatever, and put back on. no cutting, no bending. take your time, if I can do it, you can.

I had flipped mine, but it seemed to cause the hinges to start to wear more, so I flipped it back and made a spacer to mount it away and up. It keeps the tire closer to the hinges then when you flip the mount which pushes the tire away from the hinges.
