fog light switch and aftermarket lights as well

I did a search and found some usefull info but still have questions

I have a 2003 disco 2 that did not come equipped with fogs. I have since acquired fogs and now need to buy the switch and then install the swithc correctly. I have already found the fog light pig tails and hooked them up

my question is: where does the switch actually install. I believe it is the third position donw on the left side fo the steering wheel. If it is does it just slide in and click into place. do i have to attach a wiring harness tpo the back of it or is it just a plug in?

second question. I am also adding another set fo lights. not sure on what brand yet but probably hella. from reading thru the posts that search turned up. it looks like most people are using a rear wiper or cruise control switch. My understanding is that these are true switches and can be run independently of the ecu with the appropriate wiring.

Myplan is to use a power lead and relay using this switch to open the relay. any thoughts insight etc would be great. i also checke dout the tech section.

I ust went out and checked my 99 D2 for the position of the fog lite and it is the first one on the left of the instrument cluster. I am not sure if the 03's are wired in a different way but doubt it. I am using my fog lite switch to run my 3 HID's.

They did move the factory location around from 99-02 to 03-04 DII, although I can't recall exactly where. If nobody answers before monday, I'll check it out for you.

OK i looked at mine again and saw that my rear lights are at the top and my fuel filler is the third one down so i am assuming i can put the front ones in the second slot.

also those with headlight washers is it a seperate button to hit the head light washers or do they work with the windshield washers?

Every third time you wash the windshield, the lamp washers go on. Or is it every 3 seconds of spraying the windshield, the lamp washers go on once? I don't remember but it's one of those. My headlamp washers are disconnected so it's irrelevant on my truck anyway.

My 03 Disco has the front fog light on the first button on the left hand side.

Yes I am sure that you can put it in the second slot.
And yes it is automatic on the 3rd wash cycle, only the rear is manual

I think the headlights have to be on and then when they are on it is every third time. I disconnected mine but i think that is they way they worked if i remember correctly.

OK update guys

Fogs are on and working

turns out i had to buy 2 switches and a relay to get them to work and have the computer programmed.

For an 03 without factory fog lights you have to replace the top rear foglight switch with a top front fog light switch and then buy the second slot rear foiglight switch as well as add an under hood relay. once this is done then the dealer can use the textbook and turn them on. Land rover fort worth was very helpful in figuring this out and did not charge for anythign but the parts.
