My stock '04 D2 Disco feels (and looks to me) low and feels like a shitty old Chevy Cavalier over bumps on-road. That's it in my Avatar pic. (It does not go off-road. It does go off-curb rather frequently.) By contrast my stock '96 Disco D1 rides like a dream anywhere - smooth but you can go over bumps at speed and it just digests them. Same with the '82 Jeep CJ7, actually.
So in looking at what new suspension items to install on the '04 D2 I'm thinking of these choices - which do you like? (I'm not looking for a REALLY raised look but this thing already looks low to me; and ride is still going to be important; and I'm not going to be hauling stuff.):
1. Old Man Emu Medium-Duty shocks and springs kit (the blurb says it includes Nitrocharger Sport shocks. I believe the guy I spoke with at Atlantic British mentioned it gives 1.x" lift or such ... less than two.)
2. Terrafirma Pro Sport light load springs and shocks kit (gives 2" lift and the blurb says "should be used on lightly laden (or less) vehicles"; says the shocks are Pro Sport shockers..."Terrafirma Pro Sport shockers are a true +2" (50mm) longer than standard allowing much greater wheel travel and are a perfect match when combined with Terrafirma coil springs. The longer wheel travel is advantageous when driving off-road.")
I was interested in the Terrafirma mediums but there are some warnings that they're more ideal for some loads - but I don't plan to carry any. And as any offroading in the D2 is expected to be infrequent and light, maybe the OME sag issues I read about wouldn't occur as fast as they have for some of you.
