For Sale: 1997 Discovery XD

Price: $15,000 o.b.o
Mileage: 110,000

Description:
Vehicle is in great shape, I am the 3rd owner and have all original dealer paperwork and service records. Originally purchased new from a Paramus NJ Land Rover dealer. I purchased the vehicle with 65K miles, never been used off-road. I have used the vehicle for trips to Baja and local mountain areas. This is an original XD model with complete sticker package, rare for what I have seen.

I have made a few modifications listed below for my off-road needs. The only issues with the vehicle that I am aware of are a slightly sagging headliner, bad left front ABS sensor, and paint deoxidation on hood around black-out decal, minor oxidation on roof rack. Also, a few typical leaks, one I know of for sure is a power steering hose. I just had new rear rotors and brakes installed and everything else seems to be in perfect working condition.

Location:
San Diego, CA 92109

Modifications:
OME HD Springs
Bilstein Shocks
Hella 500 lights (2)
Goodyear 285x65/16 MTR's (5 - spare is new)

Specs:
AA Yellow with XD sticker package
Beige interior with rubber floor mats and water poof XD seat covers
Kenwood CD (2004 model)
Full roof rack and rear door ladder

Please respond if you or someone you know is interested. I am not sure how to add photos so let me know your email address and I will send them via email. I am also NOT able to deliver the vehicle outside of San Diego or Los Angeles areas.

Thanks Disco Web for creating this forum!

Man,

Just for your info I sold that exact same truck a couple months back. It was a truck that spent it's entire life in Florida and was involved in a minor front end collision, but had never been driven offroad accept the beach.

I got my ass handed to me here for trying to get $6,500 for the truck, so I ended up selling it for $4,500 with that exact same mileage on it.

Good Luck though with you're sale...

If you want to read the response I got here search for 97 Disco XD, it wasn't good.

Again good luck, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for that asking price.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured as much but thought to start around what I have spent on it and go from there.

I wish I had know about this site before I purchased the vehicle, apparently I got hosed given how much they are selling for. However, the local autotrader here does list most disco's similar to mine with an avg price of $12K.

I guess that's what people who don't know any better pay!

hmmm...I paid $16,000 for a my previous 2001 D2 mint with 33K miles......from a dealer!

I would post some pics....that may get people more interested, but I would assume your price will have to come down quite a bit.

Just my worthless opinion!

Thanks Ryan, had no idea it was that low. I was going off of prices from other Disco's for sale in my area and also from what I have put into it.

Oh well...guess that means I'll have to keep it and have more fun with it!

Yeah, it's unfortunate how bad these trucks depreciate.. especially when you start modifying them! If you are heartset on selling it and want more then what kbb says, you're better off in local classifieds ads.. a lot of people think that discos are worth more then they really are.

I say keep it, keep modifying it and turn it into a beast!

Also, if you want to add a picture, just start a new post (or reply to this thread) and scroll down to "Additional Options" you'll see a button that says "Manage Attachments" .. from there you can browse your computer for the picture and upload it.

I think he meant it had never been offroad when he bought it. I say keep it and mod it up!

That is correct...when I purchased it, it had never been used for any off-road driving. I made some mods and drove it to Baja regularly.

If you could get what you spent on 'em back out- everyone on this board would be *really* happy... Hell, I'd sell you my 04 for what I have spent on it so far. :)

I'm hoping to get an XD soon... if the price comes down a good bit, let me know. I'm buying a salvage one that I think I can rebuild into a trail rig (but no, I won't try to resell it as perfect), but it would be nice to have an untainted one.

There was a dealer who had an XD with 76k on it mint condition in and out for $8700. He sat on it for a month and i passed it by. Except for the cool paint, they are pretty sparse. Not much of an off-road ready truck.

Now the Trek edition, thats a different story.

I think if I can only get $6-8K for it, I am just going to keep it and continue working on it. It is such a great vehicle that I trust for better or worse!

In case I do end up having to sell it for family growth reasons, would anyone be interested at $7K?

the only upgrade I'm aware of is the OME HD springs :)
I wonder if I should be interested... I'd ditch the '89...

at $7K i might be interested, but the distance thing is an issue. will be looking to pick up one more D1 by the end of the summer or fall. was considering an XD, but didn't want to spend the extra $$ most folks want for them for the yellow paint.

if you have time can you send pics to garrett@teamrover.com

thanks

it did look good - I may have seen it sometime last month.
If I manage to get rid of the yellow jeep and 89 RRC, I'll be up to taking yours!
