funny you posted about polo today. i was down in Marshall, VA this morning to get my mocha and blueberry muffin and some dude in a DII starts asking me about the whole Team Rover biz.........yada, yada, yada. i get it every day, which is fine.
come to find out he runs the polo matches for Great Meadow here in The Plains. now mind you Great Meadow up there in the top three. www.greatmeadow.com USA vs England was this weekend and i was out of town. none too happy.
the fall steeple chase is coming up in Oct. should be good if i am around.

by they way Sus we went to a dinner party on sunday evening and drove by the O'Conners digs. impressive. almost as nice as our neighbors...........they have a full size race track on there property. we were invited to ride at their place.

going on a hunt on wed with Orange County Hunt. should be interesting.

Ooooh, steeple chase...now that's fun to watch. That is one event that I have missed since moving from Nashville. The Iroquois Steeple Chase is THE event in Nashville. Great race, plus you get all the social classes (low class, middle class, middle class wannabe upper class, and upper class) so people watching is just as entertaining between races.

Dan you have no idea how big a fag i am. trained (english) at Lord Sterling Stables in Bernerdsville, NJ, huge fan of steeple chases since way back and been working on my collection of TBs for years.
but you will NEVER find me wearing a helmet with black velvet. well maybe for a hunt, but that is it. really. and i do love my chaps. ain't nothing sexier than a woman with half chaps and a Hermes saddle. oh and maybe some Baker plaid. haha.

but seriously man.........some time this fall when we all have some free time and there is a fun race you gotta come up. you have seen nothing like this before and as Sus will tell ya this area is the premier of the country. makes Bucks Co. look like share crop farmers. as long as you don't get caught up in the whole "what hunt do you belong to" thing you are fine. and the ladies Dan...........oh it's good stuff. just trust me.

hey i try and be honest about things. i can imagine that dudes on pretty horses with braided manes and tall leather boots comes across as being "gay". i am first to admit that, but what ain't gay is hunting. around here at least one person dies each season hunting. now by "hunting" i am talking about fox hunting on horses. each "hunt" consists of about 40 to 100+ riders. snow, sleet, rain and ice..........it happens. and this is all going down on a horse that is 16+ hands and at full gallops with many other 1200 animals just feet from you. now add in 4' jumps, logs, fences, etc. and you have yourself a brutal sport that 99% of us would never dare to attempt. myself included. well so far, but it looks like i might get sucked into this year.
all in all it is pretty fucked up and crazy enough to just watch. the sound of 30-75 dogs and another 75 + horses in tow is a sight to behold.

now i have to get back to my mocha ya'll.

Seriously though, so far any time I make plans to do some thing these days it's pretty much the "kiss of death" and the things I plan to do never happen/work out.. I'll have to see what happens about coming down there but, I'll little brown truck you the fairlead or you'll probably never get it and I'll never get rid of it. You do get the little brown truck at your place don't you? Not sure about UPS and the hinter lands/boonies that you live in...

I'd say I'd just give it to you at MAR but, like almost all of the plans that I have made this year that will be another one that just isn't going to happen. So much for seeing old friends and hanging out drinking with everyone..
