Not sure if you guys got the spam mail from Holts, cigars intl, or whom ever you may order your smokes from but, there is a 53% cigar tax on the Child health bill on the senate floor so you guys may want to ring up your local Senator and explain to them that you don't think 53% tax on cigars is very fair.. Could add as much as 10 bucks more to the price of your favorite cigar at the store. I'm all for helping legal sick kids but, damn 53%.. That's just wrong.. That'll pump up a $200 box of smokes to almost $300..

Cigars weighing not more than three pounds per thousand (“small cigars”) are taxed
at the rate of $1.828 per thousand;
Cigars weighing more than three pounds per thousand (“large cigars”) are taxed at the
rate equal to 20.719 percent of the manufacturer’s or importer’s sales price but not
more than $48.75 per thousand;
New proposed tax
Small cigars are taxed at the rate of $50.00 per thousand (the same rate applied to small cigarettes);
Large cigars are taxed at the rate equal to 53.13 percent of the manufacturer’s or
importer’s sales price but not more than $10.00 per cigar;
