Found a good source for Toy HP 3rds

I found a good source of used Open carrier FJ80 front HP 3rds with 4.11s for a good price. Picked mine up last saturday and it didn't have a scratch on it.

www.yotayard.com

Its located in Denver, but they ship all over the place. They specialize in Toyota trucks and SUVs. They have a few more FJ80s sitting on the lot right now.

Everywhere I've looked they sell unlocked for 600, and e-locked for 900.

I got mine for 450.00.....so good deal

I wanted to share for anyone else out there wanting to do the swap.

that's not a bad price but you're eventually either gonna spend money on a E-locker or ARB which is going to drive that price up considerably.

might as well go here http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/index.php?cPath=25&osCsid=d6120da74d79d056be0ff1807a2cdf03

I haven't got my front toy third done yet but hopefully soon.

yeah i know.....inchworm and marlin both sell a new E-locked 3rds for 925-950, but i just want a rear locker for now. youre right ill buy a e-locked 3rd eventually....but ill be able to sell the open 3rd to cover most the price of a new e-locked 3rd.

Im looking at all the work involved would it not be easier to grind off the old perches and use the whole axle brakes hubs and all? I have a D-90 and no abs

hey mongo, are the rear wheels on a fj80/fzj80 drum or disc? if they are drum you have to convert to disc too. then theres the steering conversion. then your axles are still just stock. although, better than stock LR axles, the rovertracks conversion is HD axles.

the biggest problem is finding a set of axles to use. the rovertracks conversion only uses a FJ front 3rd, but you use a cheaper and easier to find V6 rear 3rd (or 4 banger 3rd).

good luck

Disk in the rear...just stock on the 80 series axles can turn 37's. Front R&P is 8.75 inches and the rear is 9.5 inches. Axle shafts are 1 1/4 ish and both are full float...can't compare them to a rover axle, closer to a Dana 60. Steering is actually easy if you keep it stock...

Can this be done on a D2 also, or is this a D1 only upgrade? Before I get reamed by GBR on axles I want to explore every option. Sorry for the hi-jack.
