Found out where I'm moving

I got my base assignments on Friday.

Gonna be moving to Dover, DE this summer for casual and Columbus, MS in March for UPT. Very excited about moving back east and getting to wheel there.

Anybody live close to Dover besides flyfisherman(I think that's the SN)?

Same with Columbus?

Nope, I'll be in Texas in a few weeks.

However, what in the hell is Casual and UPT? This is an automotive forum, people don't know your AF acronyms here -- not even this pretty well seasoned Navy guy, and I know all about EPRs, AF Expeditionary buckets etc.

My parents live in Dover. I grew up there, not much to do besides going to the beach in the summer. I will probably be there in the summer to modify my disco yet again.

Casual is the coined term I guess for what they call the waiting period before UPT(undergraduate pilot training).
I live with acronyms, so I forget that people don't know what I'm talking about. Not sure about the navy alex... but the air force comes up with an acronym for anything.

Casual will basically be me at Dover doing whatever bitch job they have for a 2Lt... fuuuuuuuuuun! beats going to school as far as I'm concerned though.

My brother was at Dover for about a year before he went to UPT also... I visited him once and pretty much saw most everything there.

Yep, the Navy has an acronym for just about everything as well. The down side is everyone uses the same acronym to mean different things.... That is were joint ops gets to be fun

What squadron are you going to be working in? I am in the 3rd Airlift Squardron. Come on down to Stan/Eval when you get here. If I'm in town you probably won't miss my rover outside of the squadron. I'm about the only one like it I look forward to meeting you.

Haven't found out which squadron I'm going to be in. My reporting date is early August(first week). I guess I find out then?
