The KV6 engine was also used in early Kia minivans sold in this country.
If you want to put a diesel in get the engine and gearbox out of a TD4 Freelander. Its a BMW unit. 112hp (as many as the 300tdi disco) and 160ftlbs torque.
Just have to order the complete unit from the UK.....

Well somebody beat me to it replaced or fixed the engine and is now selling it for a lot of money. That could have been fun.

But yes, they are a disgrace. The lack of low range makes it the biggest loser.
