Those things are total POS's i have one at my shop with a bad engine that the owner wont pick up (there are no engines for them anymore and the value of the cars has dropped to nothing) also had another customer who had an engine go bad while still under warr. and LR bought the car back from her at way more than it was worth.(she has an '04 disco now and loves it)

That seems really amazing to me. There are a lot of these cars out there and to not have an engine replacement? Boy, Land Rover sure isn't standing behind their product, are they?

I don't know where you are but out here in the Northwest these things are still going for top dollar. At least that what the adds are asking. Maybe this will change with time but there are a lot of people who are going to get a big surprise when they owe $10K on a car without an engine!!

I thought you loved yours?

Ryan, I did.
It was a great lil rigg that could, weeks spent at the dealer aside.
However, I ended that love affair PROMPTLY at 45k miles...paid for the extended warranty I would have NEEDED on the Freeloader by getting a CPO D2!

Auction sheets for last week here.....3 freeloaders...a $2K bad motor one...a $2.5K bad motor one and a running 70K mile one that went for $5400...I drove a customers for about 2 weeks while he was out of town(it had a 2" lift and bfgs etc etc) and it sucked both on and off road...and used gas like a Disco(why have a little car)....i just never saw the use for it...a Jeep Liberty is the same size(you could get a diesel), plus a high low TC...and they run past 80K miles and the aftermarket supports them.

So, the Freelander engine seriously isn't available or is it not even made? Meaning all Freelanders will be out of luck once the engins blow?

Its my understanding that the plant that made the engines was closed and sold...no more production...and junkyards dont have them either...and LRNA is no help

All along the east these things bring next to nothing. That is if they get a bid on them. The dealers here don't touch Freelanders either and won't sell them. The ultimate insult.

Partially correct. LRNA still has a small supply of replacement engines but you need to be a LR warranty holder to get one.

If LRNA has engines in stock, then why would they be buying cars back that are under warr. and have dead engines? and this isnt just an issue with my customer/area....both Rovers North and AB told me they have had customers recently who are getting buy backs(thats how I got the info to have my customer ask for it)....LRNA has caused tons of bad PR with this one.

I had not heard of the buy back program before, can you send me the info. My statement was what I was told during a conversation with a service person while on the topic of my own engine swap last year in my Freelander under a 3rd party warranty.
