Front axle seal replacement

I have the new seal in hand, but I'm not completely sure how to replace it. I checked rave and the instructions are less than helpful. How should I remove it and what is the best way to get the new one in without the special land rover tool?

Should I take the prybar smash my windshield and toss the lit cutting torch onto my front seat and burn it down?

Undo the flange retaining bolt, take off the flange and measure how far inside the casing the seal is.

Get a screwdriver or bar and lever out the old seal.

Fit new seal using a large socket or turn up a bit of something as we do, and fit to the same position the old one came out from. Smear a bit of oil round the lip of the seal before installing the drive flange.

If it isn't deep enough the thrower on the drive flange will rub into the seal body.

RAVE gives the torque figure for the retaining bolt.
