I've got two new FTC4822 seals on my desk, ready for a diff change but the seals weren't needed.
The seal has TWO sealing faces, the spring loaded lip seal, where the spring goes inside the axle tube facing the diff, and a face seal on the other side that faces out, and that rubs against the collar on the drive shaft inboard of the CV. This collar also seals on the spring loaded part as well.
I've just checked a front drive shaft in the spares bin.
