I have an antifreeze leak coming form the front cover gasket. the waterpump bolts to the front cover, that cover bolts to the engine block, the gasket there must be shot because the Antifreeze appears to be coming from there. does that sound right as far as antifreeze being "behind" that cover?

Not in cover

The anti freeze is not in the cover ;) but at the water pump as you look at it the two long bolts approx 3 oclock position when you pull them out here comes the anti freeze....so when you put these long bolts back in put some pipe dope on them. Also check to make sure your water pump and/or head gaskets are not leaking. One more thing the bypass hose if leaking may also look like front cover.

The 2 long bolts are pretty tight... how do I check if the head gaskets are leaking? when i look at the water pump. there is no wetness at all around the top...I cant really see the bottom because its kind of buried, but I did notice the A/f dripping down the valley where the front cover meets the engine,I assumed it was that gasket...Dammit! Im just going to powerwask the engine this weekend and dye the Coolant,Blacklight it. hope that works..What other side effects from head gaskets are there?
