Took the front cover off today (03 D2) to replace the seal, check the oil pump gears and timing chain. Outer oil pump gear was broken into two pieces and timing chain has about an inch of slack. I'll be replacing those but, ran into a small problem. While I was cleaning it all up I decided to check the relief valve to be sure it was clean and free. I removed the snap ring and the cap wouldn't come out so, I put some cleaner on it to let it soak, came back a few minutes later and cap/plug was nowhere to be found. I guess it shot out across the universe. Guess I shoulda closed the lid on the parts washer. Does anyone know where I can find one of those plugs? It's the push in type with an o-ring, not a screw in. I've looked around on the internet and can't even find a complete relief valve kit with that type of plug (need push in not screw in). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I just put a front cover on a DII the other day that had the oil pump blow up. I think a brand new front cover was only about $550 or so. I'm sure you can get a used front cover pretty cheap.

Vegas!
You can get a cover from a p38 too.

I have a spare D2 one in my garage from an engine swap I just did.

I can get a new complete oil pump/cover for around $450 shipped and a used complete oil pump/cover with 30 warranty for $100 shipped. So, hoping I can find a roached/busted cover with both good plugs/caps $20 or $25 shipped. Or just a single good used plug (cap for the oil relief valve) for $10-$15 shipped. I'm not in a big hurry. If I were in a big hurry it would be worth more. Just catching somebody before they toss their busted cover is the thing.

I've got the one that the oil pump blew up on at work. You can have it if you pay shipping.

You can send that cover to cannibalv8, steve will give it a new pump and make new relief valves.

Thanks, jymmiejamz is sending me a broken cover to get the plug I need from. My cover looks to be in good shape. I am putting in a new oil pump, new o-rings, new gasket and crank seal so not much more can be done to it. Relief valve is good, just lost the plug.

Still looking for a relief valve plug (push in not screw in) or busted cover with a good plug if anybody has one. The other one fell through.
