Front Diff going bad?

Slight grinding noise from the front under load (accelerating or decelerating). Nothing leaking and the diff is not hot to touch after driving. Started two days ago and is progressively getting worse. Is there a sure way to confirm it is indeed the diff before I call Will or Marty?

Drain the fluid and check for metal shavings or chunks.

My thought as well. Best to eliminate this possibility sooner than later, as a driveshaft failure can cause expensive damage.

Grinding noise? Start with the brakes and drive shaft, work in or out from there.

...then Check pinion for axial play.

Brakes are new and the driveshaft has three serviceable u joints recently lubed, though all worth a double check along with pinion play and shavings.

Diff was clean and pinion was tight. It was the driveshaft. Thanks again!
