front diff noises

Okay so this past week I built a front diff for my D2 --

-- used rear Trutrac (reversed the gears to make it a 'front')
-- used Timken bearings (20k miles I believe)
-- new 4.11 GBR R&P
-- new flange from LR

Got it all setup, backlash set, ready to go.. Seemed fine around town for a day or so... Saturday comes around, I go wheelin' ... on the way to wheelin, I notice when I pass by a barrier on the highway or something that'll bounce back sound, I hear a little jingling noise.. not too bad though. I wheeled Saturday, put it to a lot of use and it worked fine on the trail, no noise that I picked up or anything... so I leave on Saturday and now every time I accelerate I hear a loud noise that sounds something like jingling change or a tambourine.. I haven't had a chance to either drain it or pull it yet to see if there is any visible damage.. anyone have any ideas?

I'm 95% sure it's coming from the diff, but it could be something else.. definitely coming from the front though.

Unfortunately you don't have typical wheel bearings. We have hubs with 2 pressed in bearings that are non-serviceable. If you had a hub making that much noise you would also more then likely have an ABS fault code to go with it as the reluctor rings are an integral part of the hub.
The only noise I ever had from a bad hub was a grinding sound.
You may have to disassemble it the way you put it together just to see if anythings loose. Good luck.

err.. i'm hoping for a bad bearing in the diff.. carrier&pinion bearings are easy enough to replace... I'm going to pull it apart after work today.. at least start with pulling out the flange and see how that bearing is doing.

noise is only there when I'm on the gas pedal.. if i'm coasting its not there, if i'm braking its not there.. I haven't checked to see if I gas/brake at the same time if its there

Why on earth would you use some used bearings.............

Are you sure the bearing we seated? Did you use a feeler guage?
What did you set the back-lash at?

I'd pull it to at least look it over, recheck the back-lash, pinion beaing, etc...

I heard a noise from your truck when you would accelerate over a rock. A pinging noise, if it were a D1 I would have said you just snapped a CV.

Yeah, that was coming from the rear I believe, the detroit..

Reason I used old bearings was because I thought w/ 20k on them, they'd be in good shape.. they "looked" fine(means nothing).. but I really should have just put new ones in since they're so cheap. Set backlash at 0.007" ... didn't have a feeler gauge, had the help of a friend who's done a few LR diff builds w/o issue though.
