So the time had finally come for me to change my lower ball joint on the front of the D2. WOW, what a pain in the fucking ass. For those of you who have to do it here are a few suggestions:
1. Use lots of heat. A torch is your friend. Get the inner knuckle or whatever it is called red hot and I mean RED HOT.
2. A large punch and a BFH seem to work best for actually extracting the ball joint.
3. If the knuckle has cooled down re-heat it so that it will expand and allow for an easy installation of the new ball joint.
I spent many hours today trying to figure out the best way to get the damn thing out and this was the easiest way, in my opinion to get it out.
