Hi I have a 2000 Disco II with ACE and I found the cause of a clunking noise from the front end. Whenever I drove over a pothole or any uneven surface I could hear ( and feel ) a clunking / rattling noise not like a light ratting noise but something heavy rattling around. I even noticed it when I was driving and I turned the wheel left and right I could also hear the noise, clunk clunk. I found that I was able to moved the sway bar left and right by hand and I also found some witness marks on the frame where the ACE ram ( I think thats what it is ) was smashing into it. All I did to fix it was unbolt the two brackets holding the sway bar in place and put in a small piece of rubber ( 2cm X 4cm ) between the rubber bushing and the bracket just to tighten them up and then bolted the brackets back into place. Not a great fix I know but the noise went away completely. Now all I have to do is give Landrover some money for a couple of new bushings.
