I'm very glad it helped! The only reason I posted this was to save other people the time of changing their front output bearing over 5 thousandths play. Also to help others alleviate vibrations learning from my mistakes. I'm a smart old cookie, but this is my only Rover so I'm ignorant to all their quirks and I am learning from other postings as well! The more we ALL share, the smarter we ALL become.

The bearing is a little rattly, imo... I changed the front outputshaft and bearing/seal, etc in my 96 (with the HT2.8VNT and the slushbox) and was amazed at how much slop the LT230 still had. *I admit, even when I had the damned thing out, I avoided tearing it all down to parade rest and lashing it up [if possible]. A nice tight LT230 and R380 would REALLY be nice. I think my 95 is due for some serious maintenance in the squeaky and sloppy bits.

Posting this video here as well to demonstrate the twisting/variable speed of driveshafts in mismatched angles/flanges.

Again, this was happening on the rear causing massive vibrations in the Front end! Fixed by shimmed trailing arms back to get angles to match.
And on the stock front DS (after caster correction arms) causing power surging at 0-5mph like a bad stall converter. Double Cardan DS 'band-aided this"

Yeah, I saw that, it's a fantastic practical demonstration!

On a separate note: it appears my front-forward yoke (on the shaft) is *slightly* bent.. Maybe that is what caused the problem that started this whole evolution (it keeps throwing the circlip on one side of the yoke). I attempted to install a new U-joint and WOW is it tight.

I am ordering a new shaft.
