I just got 15.8 mpg on a 450 mile trip including half a day in low range.

driving what?????

a rover?

must be stock tires, or atleast ATs and a naked roof..

I dont go by my speedo or odo, they are off. I mix the data I get from my scan guage with what I read on my gps(speed/distance) to figure my MPG. Sounds like 10.8 is pretty average for a lifted HD d2..

for fun, I should get a Hybrid sticker...

Yeah, it has ATs and a bumper. I'm gonna lift it as soon as RTE gets the springs in (which probably won't ever happen). I think the headers help a little.

Jason, your engine is a 300tdi, right? Do you have a/c?

Yes. 300tdi. I do have a/c. I haven't run the a/c much, but it doesn't appear to change the mileage. At idle, the engine doesn't even change RPM when I turn on the a/c.

I also have 32" MT/R 's I'm running. Pretty happy with the Tdi performance!

Jason,

Do you have any mods on your truck?

I get between 27 and 28 mpg driving 50% city 50% highway. I don't have any mods to my truck. My engine doesn't have an a/c compressor. I've ordered one because the south Texas heat is too much to handle without a/c. I'm interested to see if it drops my mileage down into your range. I'm told that people with the 200tdi in the UK remove the compressor for improved mileage. We'll see.

I have a 3" lift. Have 32" MT/R's. Steel Nato wheels. TW front shaft. Roofrack. Safari Gard front bumper. Rockware sliders.

I think roofrack, tires, and wheels play the biggest part. I put the stock alloys and all-seasons on just to test, and I was amazed how much more power it seemed to have off the line.

The a/c compressor will cut it down a bit I'm sure.

You have a 200 or 300?

Well, that explains the difference.

I have a 200.

I'm getting an SD roof rack next weekend so I'll see what that does to the mileage. I hate to add anything because 560 miles to a tank is nice. But, I want to mod the truck a little for some light offroading/expeditioning.

You got any pics of your truck? Where did you get the steel nato wheels. I'd like to go that route when I have the money. What size are the wheels?

One more question. Is your truck manual or automatic?

I have an automatic. I'm guessing you have a five speed with that kind of
mileage. Did you buy your rig with the diesel in or did you put it in?

Every mod will zap a little from the mileage. Bumpers add a lot of weight. Steel Natos came from Stephen Peters in Florida. Used to be on here as Safarirover. They are heavy.

I only have poser shots of my rig, and I'm hesitant to post them :) I will get a couple of pics to you. Have any shots of your install?

Yes, I have a manual. I installed a 200tdi myself with the help of some friends. I had to have someone weld the new engine mounts. There were a couple of other things I had to have help with.

I used to get between 10 and 12 town/freeway driving.

Now I get between 22 and 25:D

I'll be passing through Boise later this week on my way down from Alaska. Maybe you could rub up against my Disco so I can get 20 mpg! BTW, I'm getting 18 on the highway.

18 is pretty awesome! Are you heading back to Mtn Home? You'll have to let me know when you're in town.

I get about 280 to the tank on my 04 DII with about 2/3 highway and 1/3 intown. So whatever the hell that equates to.

My 04 D2 was running about 265-275 miles from fill-up to fuel light on. After replacing an O2 sensor and plug wires I just hit my first 300 miles between fill-up and fuel light; that included almost all high-speed highway (ie not the most efficient highway travel) with about 20 miles of offroad in low range. Worked out to be 13.9 mpg per the GPS.

I'm in Seattle now and will be around Boise sometime Wednesday afternoon. I'll be in Mountain Home for a day and then on to Georgia.
