Hi,

94 D1 Manual

Have done a search and think i have a fuel injector leak.

Symptoms: crank, no start, but when finally started after giving gas, runs perfect. Changed fuel filter already.

Starts easier first thing in am, rather than 5 mins after running.

No codes thrown.

So i think (from what ive read) a good place to check is the fuel injectors, right?

How would I go about this? Couldn't find a step by step.

ANy help appreciated!

Thanks,

Hunter

check your fuel pressure. See what you are getting with the key in postion "2". should be 35-40. If it is below here you need to eliminate possible causes. You also need to check your fuel pressure regulator.

1> Fuel Pressure Regulator(FPR). Is it working? Is the vacuum line to it broken? After inspecting the vacuum line, start the car. Recheck your fuel readings. Did the pressure drop a few psi? It should, the vacuum from the manifold opens the diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator and allows fuel to recirculate to the gas tank. If it fails in the closed position you will get excess fuel through the injectors. If the diaphragm ruptures you may get fuel entering the vacuum line into the manifold.

2>Fuel Pressure bleed off. After you shut off the engine, what is the fuel pressure curve. Is the fuel pressure holding or is it dropping off. If you checked your FPR and it checked out and you are losing pressure rapidly you either have a bad check valve in your fuel pump or you have a leak in the line/possibly a leaky injector. Pull the fuel pump and inspect the check valve. I have seen plastic shavings from the tank obstruct the check valve allowing fuel to flow back into the tank. If this happens you may have trouble restarting once warm.

If your FPR checked out and you still are not getting 35-40 psi and the check valve was obstructed, cleaning it may solve the problem. If not you may need a new pump.

After checking the above move on to a leaky injector. Pull them , find a good shop to have them tested/ cleaned and retested.
