Hey folks,

I just noticed tonight that I hear a "gurgling" sound coming from the gas tank area. I think it's the fuel pump but I've gone through the archives and it sounds like it could be a couple different things and wondered if anyone else has ever encountered this sound and knew what it was. The pump sounds like it's working but it just sounds like someone is slurping their soup or something.

When you turn the key to position 2 you can feel the brake pedal click and hear the pump engage and that's when you hear the "gurgling". It lasts for a few seconds and goes away. The truck starts fine and everything though just the sound is new. I can't think of anything else in that area of the truck that might cause that sound and it's distinctly coming from the back passenger side rear quarter panel.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

That noise is likely the fuel pump... Do you have the OEM one still in there?

I have a generic aftermarket from AutoZone, and it makes a lot of noise.

Check your fuel pressure, should read between 32-35 or so on the gauge. If that seems fine, just call it good and wait for it to crap out. Only a matter of time... :p

Yea it's still the factory pump. The noise went away this morning and everything seems back to normal but I should probably pick one up in case this thing dies on me.

Thanks for your help and comments.
