Fuel pump/ wiring harness

In October I replaced the fuel pump that went bad in my 99 DI. At the same time I replaced the fuel pump wiring harness because the connector was bad. I?ve had problems starting the truck for the last two weeks.

While checking the fuel system in effort to narrow my starting problem I noticed that the connector between the wiring harness and the fuel pump is completely corroded. The connector in the wheel well is fine.

Has anyone ever seen the connectors get corroded to the point of not functioning is just 6 months (about 2000 miles)? Any thoughts on what may have caused this.

6 months? That seems odd.... I'd get a warranty replacement now (6 months warranty on parts, right?). Was that an OEM harness?
Mine took 10 years to get bad (and then I had intermitent loss of fuel pump.... Not good when you are on the most left lane passing cars on the highway.....). The funny part is that the parts guy at the local Land Rover dealership never heard of one going bad.... I guess they always assume this is the fuel pump and replace both at the same time?

Next time, make sure you put di-electric grease on there to keep the moisture out. I always to this to every connector I plug/unplug inside and outside the truck.

Then.... There is something really wrong.... In 6 months you should not have had any corrosion unless the grease itself had a problem.
