fuel tank

I have a 95 D90. It smells like it could have a slight fuel leak after I fill up. I know that the Disco's and RRC had a recall on the fuel tanks. Did the D90's as well?

Get under the car and look at the vent hose that runs beside the filler hose and see if it is dry rotted. I know of at least four 95 RR and Discos that have had this problem in the last couple of months.

I have a 95 RRC that I had to fix that on.
This one seems to be O.K.
My 96 disco had the recall and so did the RRC and they replaced both tanks.
I was hoping that the D90 had a recall as well.

Or rust at the pump. The Defenders really collect the crud up there. I don't think I've pulled a pump out of one where the fittings didn't disintegrate on disassembly.

I found the leak but just haven't pulled the tank down. The leak is coming from the the sending unit (the fuel level unit). Its a minor leak, just enough to panic the wife after a fill-up.
Does anyone make a sealant that will not break down from gas. I can reach it w/o dropping the tank.

On a '95 NAS D90, the fuel level sender is integral with the pump and it is not accessible without dropping the fuel tank.

I guess it isn't the sending unit. The tube that is closer to the back that is more towards the drivers side of the tank is the one I found the leak at. It fuel comes out were it goes into the tank.
