So my b-in law gave me two Kimber 1911s to take to the range Saturday and run some rounds through. One was a 3' Ultra carry and the other a 4"Custom Pro Raptor II both in blue. I also took along a Walther P22 and a .44cal 1858 bp revolver.
This was the first time out with the 1858, it was a blast to shoot. Not having any cloth wads I used bore butter over the balls but the day was so hot that the butter was a mess to use (the cylinder started to look like I was buttering corn). Also found that I needed to give the primers a little pinch so they'd stay on while shooting, lol.
The P-22, found that one of my clips was furkapta. Went through half of a bulk box with only 2 bad rounds. lots of fun to shoot and cheap to feed.
For the Kimbers, the 4" (nib) had failures to eject with 3 different brands of name brand ammo (2 ball, 1 jhp). Its going to be sent back to the factory. The 3" compact worked flawlessly. I put ~200 rds of ball and 21 rounds of jhp through with no ftf or fte. It also grouped well. I was leaning towards buying a 3" anyways and now its mine.
Anyways, for cc of the 3" 1911, I could use some suggestions on makers of good leather or plastic IWB and OWB holsters and 1/2 clip holsters. Sorry for the long post but it was a fun day at the range.
