Gap in the drive plate crank sensor ring

Howdy All,
I have a 96 Disco. Is there anyone who can tell me what the position of the gap the variable reluctor sensor ring on the drive plate is with respect to top dead center?

What trying to say is....

Is the gap in the teeth x degrees before TDC?

or

Is the gap in the teeth x degrees after TDC?

or

Is the gap in the teeth at TDC?

Thank you,
DiscoEd

Hey Ed, Still no love from the Disco eh?

Hey Stroud,
No, Still not running. I've had to scale back my efforts some over the past few weeks. It's really looking like the engine management unit is toast. So, I've been researching aftermarket alternatives or perhaps designing my own system.

Are you not getting spark? Spark but bad time?
What's the crank sensor reading?

My syptoms are no spark at all and the injectors are not working either.

I have tested the crank sensor out of the vehicle and it test fine. I will be trying to get a reading off of it in the vehicle this comming weekend. It should be noted also that I have swapped out both the crank and cam position sensors.

Here is one of my earlier posts...

What?! I thought it was the same. Wow, hey you are right... I just was looking more closely at a picture of the instrument cluster and the check engine light is to the left of the dash and just above the brake indicator.

So, wow, maybe I've missed something important here!

So, Dale, what direction should I go from here if the check engine light is off?

You will need to send the disco to a rover dealer and have the alarm reprogramed.Technical bulletin number 86.16.97/NAS SECURITY CONFIGURATION TESTBOOK Disk #DRG0R0BW.I think it lost its communications to the GEMS ECU.

Dale,
You mqay be on the right trak with this one, but I thought I saw something posted realated to this that talked about having to turn the key in the door lock a certain number of times or sychronize the system. Or was this perhaps for something else?

Ed, I wrote a post about this procedure way back. I'll look for it.

Thanks Stroud,
I've been combing through the posts here and haven't found it yet. I just knew I wasn't crazy and had seen that post before. :D Let me know if you find it before me.

I checked at work and no one knew about this.I think its a alarm fault or communications to GEMS ECU like I mentioned.
