Thanks for checking Dale.

I checked at work and no one knew about this.I think its a alarm fault or communications to GEMS ECU like I mentioned.

Hey Dale, thanks for checking on this for me. It was worth a shot anyway.

I wish I knew more about the immobilization signal. The only thing that I can find on it is that it is a PWM 12 volt signal and is passed from the BECM to the EMU via a single wire that goes to pin 26 of connector C on the EMU. I'm guessing that the PWM signal is based on some number coded into the BECM that is also programmed into the EMU. If one knew a way to determine what that number was, perhaps the PWM signal could be emulated and the EMU would think that it was o.k. to run the engine.

Ok Ed , If I remember right it goes something like this:
Close all roofs and windows. Lock and close all doors by hand except drivers door. Disconnect battery. Wait 15 mins. with battery disconnected. Reconnect battery. Enter truck through open drivers door. Lock door by hand. Press unlock button on remote 4 times in close proximity to dash. The forth push of the button should unlock the truck. Exit truck, close door. Lock and unlock the drivers door with the key and remove from lock cylinder. Repeat the lock unlock and removal procedure two more times. This should take care of the immobilization signal. Best of luck. ;)

Stroud,
Thanks for passing this on. I'll give it a try on Saturday. (perhaps tonight if I can't be patient.)

I have the battery out of the vehicle now. Do you think that changes anything or should I just put it in and start from the beginning of your procedure? Also when you say to enter through the open drivers door, does this mean that you physically have left the door wide open or just unlocked?

Lastly, when you were stranded at the home depot, just how is it that this all came about? What happened to put the vehicle in the immobilized state? Just curious about this.

Status Update!

Stroud and Dale,
Well, I spent some time experimenting today. Here is what happened...

I tried Strouds sequence as listed above. The first time through I screwed it up by pushing the wrong button on the remote.
I tried the whole thing over again. It didn't work, but I did discover that the drivers door lock mechanism was not working correctly. I haven't quite figured out a fix for it yet, but I did figure out a temporary way around it and to make the Disco think that all was right with the switch on the door lock.

After using my temporary fix and going through Strouds whole procedure again. I still had no check engine light at any time, but I did actually get the engine to sputter for a couple of brief seconds. That was it. I couldn't get it to do it again. I feel that this is promising though as this is the closest it's come to running, to date.

So, I'm wondering if maybe the check engine lamp is just burnt out or something like that. I'll try to look into that some.

Do either of you have any idea why it may have fired for that brief instant and then nothing again. No spark, No fuel, it just cranks without firing. I even sprayed a bit of starting fuild in there and that didn't do anything either.

DiscoEd

Was this West Des Moines Home Depot or Southeast side Home Depot? Maybe the orientation of the Disco in relation to Mecca was a factor.

Dammit, I knew there was a higher power at work that day. It was WDM. :) I knew I should have parked facing east.
