Gas Door Mechanism

My wife just borrowed the 03 Disco to run an errand and filled it up for me. However she comes home and says, I had a "small calamity with your tuck while I was out".

Turns out she tried slamming the fuel door and the plastic piece on the door itself broke off. She brought me back one piece, but from the looks of it, there are probably a couple of others on the ground at the gas station.

Is there someone out there that could take a picture or two of the plastic pieces on the fuel door and post it for me?

it should look similar if not identical to that piece. i had it break off on my 04 a few months ago, dealership warrantied it.

^^Yup, that's definitely the piece...I've somehow managed to break 2 of them since owning my 04 in the last 18 months.

If you're going to be ordering, and reattaching, that piece yourself be careful and go slow...they snap very easily.

mine's been messing up lately too, turns out the metal peice that holds that crap plastic thing to the gas door was bent. $6 is a little much for such a fragile peice of small plastic

every small plastic factory part is overpriced. if you buy one, i would buy a spare, its only a matter of time before it wears out and snaps again.

Thanks for everyones quick response, and assurance that I am not the only one with this problem. On my way to the airport tomorrow, will stop by the stealer on the way and see if they can hook me up.

I bought two last time I had to replace mine (for the second time on an 04). Might want to do the same while you are there...
