Gas gauge intermittent problem

Hi folks,

I recently had my fuel pump replaced on the 97 Disco I, and since then I have had a couple of occasions where the fuel gauge dropped to empty (with reserve light coming on) despite a full tank of gas.

I have searched previous posts that indicate it might be a electrical contact issue with the sender to the gauge. I don't have a shop manual - can anyone send me pics or direct me to the spot where I can pull the lead(s) and clean up the contacts?

If its the multiplug at the pump, you'll need to access it from the cargo area. Remove the metal strip holding the carpet and roll it back with the padding. There is a small cover plate in the center of the tank. Remove it and you can get to the pipe fittings and multiplug.

my '02 freelander does the same thing. you're not alone. i just watch the trip odometer to know when to fill up.
